Turkmenistan, India discuss trade-economic cooperation

Turkmenistan and India discussed cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, Trend reports referring to the website of Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

At the 6th Ministerial Meeting within the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the ministry's head Rashid Meredov held bilateral talks to his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

During the constructive talk, the parties discussed the prospects for the further strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural, humanitarian and other perspective spheres.

Besides, the ministers emphasized the regular character of the Turkmen-Indian contacts at the highest level and the potential of inter-MFA cooperation. In this context, the expediency of holding the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation was expressed.

Noting the effectiveness of joint efforts aimed at combating the challenges of present time, the diplomats stressed the effectiveness of the partnership between the two countries at the regional and international levels.

In particular, the activity of interaction between Turkmenistan and India within the framework of authoritative international organizations was stated by the parties.

The role of the India-Central Asia Dialogue was also emphasized. According to the ministers, this format makes it possible to discuss a wide range of issues.

The ministers also emphasized the active contacts of the parties on the implementation of the promising Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.
