Turkmenistan’s Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries has opened an international tender related to building a hydrogen production unit, Trend reports with reference to the ORIENT news agency.
Technical documentation for the design, construction, commissioning and commissioning the new hydrogen plant will be prepared.
Earlier, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the leadership of the fuel and energy complex to accelerate work in the field of renewable energy sources and hydrogen energy.
Berdimuhamedov also noted that hydrogen is the fuel of the future, the production and study of which is extremely important in light of the global community's concerns about climate change.
In addition, in his speech at the global high-level round table on "Extractive industries as an engine of sustainable development", president of Turkmenistan took the initiative to start designing a strategy for the development of low-carbon energy and an international roadmap for the development of hydrogen energy within the framework of the UN.
Berdimuhamedov urged to consider hydrogen as one of the priority areas in the energy sector, and also said that Turkmenistan in the near future is ready to start discussing the criteria for the implementation of initiatives put forward by the country at the expert level.
