BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 30. The number of bank cards issued in Turkmenistan as of March 1, 2022 amounted to 4.8 million, which is 0.4 percent more compared to February (4.78 million) and 0.8 percent more compared to January (4.77 million), Trend reports with reference to the data of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.
According to bank, the largest number of cards was issued in the capital of the country - the city of Ashgabat (1.68 million cards). It is followed by Mary (852,400 cards) and Lebap regions (779,400 cards).
Daykhanbank State Commercial Bank issued the most cards - 1.7 million, followed by State Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan (913,500 cards) and the Turkmenbashi Joint Stock Commercial Bank (520,300 cards).
Over the past four years, the number of cards issued in Turkmenistan has doubled.
