BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11. Russia aims to develop transport corridors passing through Turkmenistan, a source in the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation told Trend.
"Currently, Russian companies are interested in participating in the implementation of the project for the development of the North-South transport corridor (Russian Federation - Persian Gulf) with the construction of a section of the highway in Turkmenistan," said the source.
At the same time, the issue of increasing the volume of goods transported through the infrastructure of international transport corridors passing through the territory of Turkmenistan and Russia is relevant.
"The Russian ports on the Caspian Sea and the Turkmen port of Turkmenbashi have a significant capacity reserve. In this regard, the issue of cooperation between the two countries on attracting cargo to the infrastructure of transport corridors is of particular relevance," said the source.
Furthermore, according to the ministry, Russia and Turkmenistan are working on the implementation of projects in such areas as energy, industry, transport, logistics, trade, mechanical engineering, agriculture, banking, land cadastre, tax administration, as well as other promising areas of interest to the two countries.
