BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 22. The area of land sown with cotton in the Balkan region in the west of Turkmenistan has been published, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

According to the information, 13,000 hectares of land have been sown in the region this year, from which 16,000 tons of cotton are planned to be harvested.

Seasonal work is currently underway in the region. According to the requirements of agricultural technology, at the moment, preparations for planting potatoes and onions, as well as other types of vegetables, are continuing in the region.

In general, 580,000 hectares of land were sown throughout the country this year, from which it is planned to harvest 1.25 million tons of cotton.

Turkmenistan provides targeted support to the development of the agricultural sector. In particular, the entire production infrastructure of the agro-industrial complex is being re-equipped and modernized, the chemical industry is developing, modern tractors, combines and other machineries are being purchased.
