BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. The total hydrocarbon resources in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea currently amount to 18.2 billion tons in oil equivalent, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
This was stated by Serdar Nuryagdyyev, chief geophysicist of the Turkmengeology State Concern, at the forum on attracting investments in the energy sector of Turkmenistan held from April 26 through 27 in Dubai (UAE).
He noted that at the moment the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea is divided into 32 license blocks.
According to him, licensed blocks 16 – with an area of 1810.10 square kilometers and 24 – with an area of 2565.96 square kilometers located in the western part of the Turkmen sector of the South Caspian basin are promising.
Meanwhile, according to the Turkmen Turkmengaz State Concern, the country's hydrocarbon resources are estimated at more than 71 billion tons of oil equivalent, of which more than 20 billion tons of oil and more than 50 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.
