BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 10. The Charjew district of the Lebap region of Turkmenistan has produced about 261 tons of silkworm cocoons this season, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
According to the information, this is the highest indicator in the whole Lebap region.
Farmers in the Lebap region last year handed over to the state about 1,010 tons of silkworm cocoons, thereby fulfilling the established plan.
This season, contracts were signed in the region with more than 21,000 tenant-silk growers.
One of the leading enterprises of the sericulture industry of Turkmenistan is the Ashgabat Silk Factory and the Turkmenabat Silk Production Association.
Turkmenistan's agricultural sector receives targeted support from the government. Farmers, private entrepreneurs, and other agricultural producers can benefit from preferential bank loans.
