Turkmenistan and UNECE discuss cooperation in field of green energy

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 30. Turkmenistan and the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) discussed cooperation in the field of green energy, Trend reports.

These issues were discussed between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Myahri Byashimova, and the Director of the Sustainable Energy Division of the UNECE, Dario Liguti.

The specific topics of negotiations during the meeting between the parties were the interaction of Turkmenistan and the UNECE in the field of sustainable energy development and the reduction of methane emissions.

Furthermore, the prospects for expert support from the UNECE in the fields of solar and wind energy and the development and implementation of advanced technologies for energy storage and transmission were considered.

The participants of the meeting stressed the importance of the events organized by the UNECE and the participation of Central Asian countries in them, noting the prospects for cooperation with the international community.

The possibility of organizing an International Forum on Sustainable Energy in Turkmenistan in 2025 was also discussed at the meeting.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan is actively developing green energy, realizing the importance of sustainable energy sources for economic growth and reducing environmental impact. A country with great potential for solar and wind energy is seeking to increase the share of renewable sources in the energy mix by investing in solar and wind farms as well as upgrading existing infrastructure.
