ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 15. The Turkmenabat Silk Production Association, located in the Lebap region of Turkmenistan, exceeded the production plan by 48.8 percent from January through November this year, Trend reports.
During the specified period, the production association manufactured more than 102 tons of raw silk.
The company produced 8.98 million square meters of cotton fabrics, 35,000 square meters of silk fabrics and 29 square meters of silk carpets from January through November this year.
In terms of value, the production association produced products worth about 101.93 million Turkmen manat ($29.09 million) in the first eleven months of this year
In general, the Lebap region collected 1,060 tons of silkworm cocoons this year, which is 4.95 percent more than the planned volume (1,010 tons).
Silk is one of the most important agricultural products grown in Turkmenistan. The main silk production regions in the country are Mary, Ahal and Lebap regions.
