ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 6. The Turkmenistan's 'Sekiz bag' agricultural association started planting safflower for the first time this year, Trend reports.

According to official data, the agricultural association plants safflower on 5 hectares of farmland located on the territory of the Tejen district of the Ahal region located in the south of the country.

Safflower, which is adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of Turkmenistan, will be grown to produce oil, which is an alternative to olive oil.

Currently, 60 hectares of farmland owned by the agricultural association are planted with rapeseed, and this year, as in previous years, a bountiful harvest of this crop is expected.

Furthermore, 'Sekiz bag' has innovative equipment imported from China for the production of rapeseed oil.

Meanwhile, within the framework of the strategy for the development of the agricultural sector of Turkmenistan, the main focus is on the modernization of infrastructure, the introduction of innovative technologies and improving the quality of education in the field of agriculture.

The support of farms, the development of cooperatives and the promotion of investments contribute to increasing agricultural production and increasing the export potential of the country.
