ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 1. Turkmenistan's Balkan shipyard and ship repair plant will begin assembling the CSD 650 dredger under the supervision of Dutch Damen Shipyards Group engineers.
According to the Maritime and River Transport Agency of Turkmenistan (Turkmendenizderyayollary), the assembly of the CSD 650 dredger is carried out by order of the 'Söwda Gurluşyk Maslahat' company.
In preparation for this project, a representative of the Balkan shipyard recently visited the Netherlands, where he took part in the dredger tests.
This made it possible to get acquainted with its technical characteristics and work features, as well as prepare for the acceptance of design documents and parts for assembly in Turkmenistan.
During the visit of a representative from the Balkan plant to the Netherlands, in addition to actively participating in the assembly of the dredger, meetings were conducted with the management of the Damen Shipyards Group, where this topic was discussed in detail.
Meanwhile, Damen dredgers are in great demand in Turkmenistan, where they are used for dredging, construction, and repair of port facilities, as well as for sand and gravel extraction.
The assembly of the CSD 650 dredger at the Balkan shipyard will be the first step towards localizing the production of Damen dredgers in Turkmenistan, which will not only reduce the cost of their purchase but also create new jobs as well as improve the skills of Turkmen specialists in the field of shipbuilding.
