ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, June 20. Farmers in the Mary region of Turkmenistan have successfully met the target for the volume of silkworm cocoon harvest this season, Trend reports.

According to official data, farmers in the Ahal region have harvested 155 tons of silkworm cocoons this season, meeting the planned target.

The successful implementation of this campaign relied on local hatcheries adhering to established regulations, which included disinfecting premises and creating optimal conditions for successful incubation.

Overall, this year, farmers delivered over 2,100 tons of silkworm cocoons to the state, thereby fully meeting the plan.

Furthermore, during the past year, farms throughout Turkmenistan gathered over 2,300 tons of silkworm cocoons, significantly surpassing the set target.

Meanwhile, one of Turkmenistan's most important agricultural products is silk, which is predominantly produced in the Mary, Ahal, and Lebap regions.

Leading sericulture enterprises in Turkmenistan include the Ashgabat Silk Factory and the Turkmenabat Silk Production Association.
