(Turkmenistan.ru) - In an interview with local mass media on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of state independence of Kazakhstan, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan Murat Atanov said brotherly Turkmenistan occupies a special place in the foreign policy of Kazakhstan, reports Trend.
According to the head of the diplomatic mission, not only centuries-old principles of mutual respect and good neighborliness have been preserved after independence but also increased. Kazakhstan's and Turkmenistan's mutual interest in implementation of transit potential for transportation of hydrocarbons and other raw materials to international markets, absence of political disputes create favorable conditions to maintain good neighborly relations and develop cooperation and partnership in resolution of such regional problems as Caspian Sea, Aral Sea, ecological and other problems.
The ambassador noted that sovereign Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan worked out a solid legal basis in bilateral relations - over 50 interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents regulating a wide range of economic, humanitarian and other fields of cooperation. As a result, cooperation in the fuel-energy complex, trade, transportation, communication and other fields is increasing.
Speaking about cultural-humanitarian cooperation, Atanov noted that Kazakhstan always supported the initiatives of the Turkmen side. For example, Kazakh delegations took part in such big international forums as women's conference, festival of gifted children and exhibition of printing products in Turkmenistan.
According to the diplomat, Turkmenistan's participation in the international theater festival of Central Asia, various international forums, conferences and Olympiads held in Kazakhstan also contributes to cultural-humanitarian cooperation between friendly countries.
There is a mutual interest and necessary prerequisites to make Kazakh-Turkmen relations dynamic and comprehensive, the ambassador emphasized.
