The Uzbek Interior Ministry created a Resource Centre for Human Rights, the Ministry said.
The center was established in co-operation with the OSCE project aimed at improving the Ministry's capacity in the legal support for human rights and with assistance of the OSCE Coordinator in Uzbekistan.
There was also created an Office for Protection of Human Rights and Legal Support at the Interior Ministry, departments and offices were created on the sites and tasked to improve activities in the field of human rights protection in the internal affairs bodies, increase staff knowledge in this area, strengthen cooperation with international and nongovernmental, nonprofit organizations working to protect human rights in the country.
The Office has established collaboration with government agencies and nongovernmental organizations, and developed a legal basis of this interaction.
