Second high-speed electric train arrives in Tashkent from Spain

The second of two high-speed trains, bought by Uzbekistan Railways JSC from the Spanish Parentes Talgo S. arrived in Tashkent on the night from Friday to Saturday, the Uzbek railways reported.

As it was reported earlier, the Spanish Patentes Talgo S. A. and Uzbekistan Railways signed a contract on the purchase of two high-speed trains AVE 250 worth 38 million euros in November 2009. The contract includes service of trains, as well as driver training in Spain.
The project is financed by the Uzbekistan Temir Yollari and the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan received the first of two high-speed trains in late July.

According to the railway company, so far the train transported more than 3,000 passengers in the direction of Tashkent - Samarkand - Tashkent. With the arrival of the second train transportation frequency will increase to four times a week, while the traffic volume between Tashkent and Samarkand will be doubled.

The total project cost for the organization of high-speed movement of passenger train in the Tashkent-Samarkand section is more than $105 million.
