Fare of public transport in Tashkent increased by 16.6 per cent from April 1 - to 700 sums from 600 sums before.

Accordingly, price of monthly tickets for different categories of the population increased.
Price increase has affected all ground transportation, subway, as well as buses of suburban routes within the city.

Price increase is due to increased costs for fuel and lubricants, electricity and spare parts and materials, the Toshshahartranshizmat Association, operating urban passenger transportation, said.

The previous increase in transport fare was observed a year ago in April. Then, an increase hit 20 percent - from 500 sums to 600 sums.

As it was previously reported, from April 1, Uzbekistan increased the tariffs for central heating and hot water supply by 15.5 per cent, cold water supply - 11 percent, as well as electricity - 7 percent.

The official exchange rate is 1843.50/$1 on April 2.
