Uzbek President Islam Karimov on the invitation of President Lee Myung-bak on September 19-21 will arrive to the Republic of Korea with a state visit, UzA reported.

During the visit the state and prospects of expansion of bilateral cooperation and important regional and international issues will be discussed.
Following the meetings and negotiations will be signed a joint statement, the package of documents aimed at deepening the Uzbek-Korean dialogue in priority areas of cooperation, UzA reported.

As previously reported, the mutual visits of Heads of State in May 2009 in Uzbekistan and in February 2010 in South Korea confirmed the parties' commitment to the further development of strategic partnership agreements and the implementation of the agreements reached at previous summits.

Meeting President Islam Karimov and Lee Myung-bak in August 2011 in Tashkent and signed during the visit to Uzbekistan Korean President agreements promising joint projects in various sectors of the economy have given new impetus to bilateral cooperation.

Currently, the total amount claimed of South Korean investments in Uzbekistan's economy is more than five billion dollars, including development - two billion dollars. In 2011, bilateral trade amounted to 1.6 billion dollars. In Uzbekistan there are more than 350 companies with the South Korean capital in fields of light, chemical industry, food industry, commerce, engineering industry, housing and utilities, healthcare, tourism and services.
