Uzavtoprom joint stock company launched construction of enterprise on production of mounted and trailed equipment, worth $ 31 million, for the Uzbek-German MAN Auto - Uzbekistan company in Samarkand region, a source in government circles told Trend on Monday.

Construction of the production line is planned to be completed by the end of the first quarter of next year, commissioning is scheduled for the first half of 2013. The capacity of the production line will be two thousand units of trailers and thousands pieces of mounted equipment a year.

Uzbek-German joint venture MAN Auto - Uzbekistan was established in August 2009 with authorized capital of three million euros, with 51 percent of Uzbek share and 49 percent of German share.

Since September 2010, the joint venture carried out SKD of trucks on basis of SamAvto car plant. (Samarkand, produces buses and Isuzu light trucks).

The design capacity of the joint venture is one thousand trucks a year. Within two years, the joint venture produced about 1.5 thousand vehicles with capacity from 15 to 50 tons of TGA and CLA modifications.

According to official statistics, within the first nine months of this year MAN Auto - Uzbekistan issued 653 trucks.

In April 2011, MAN Truck & Bus AG (Division of MAN Group) and Uzavtosanoat (Uzavtoprom) began construction of a complex for production and maintenance of MAN trucks and trailers worth $59.38 million in Jambay district of Samarkand region.

In late April 2011, dealership and service centers were built within the first phase of construction.

The second phase of the project: establishment of vehicle assembling production, designed to produce up to six thousand trucks and MAN chassis per year, was completed in July this year.

The manufacturing facility also provides for production of cabins and support frames of MAN trucks according to the full production cycle.

As previously reported, the third step provides for creation of facilities for the production of complete range of trailed and mounted equipment.

Overall, production capacity up to 20.000 units per year will be set on the basis of the complex. The project is financed by the founders of the joint venture and credit resources.
