Newly appointed ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom Muhammad Nur Othman Yousef Balkar delivered his credentials to Uzbek foreign minister on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry said today.

The sides have exchanged the views on the priorities to develop the Uzbek-Jordanian relations in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields. They have discussed important aspects of cooperation in such international and regional organizations as the UN and its bodies, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The sides have expressed mutual interest in enhancing bilateral contacts at various levels, expanding the legal framework and launching institutional cooperation mechanisms.

The diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Jordan were established in February 1993. Currently, the countries signed a number of other documents, including an agreement on mutual assistance in customs sphere, the agreement on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of income tax evasion, an agreement on cooperation between the Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Jordanian Businessmen Association. This document envisages the expansion of relations between the Jordanian leading companies and the Uzbek business circles, representing small business and private entrepreneurship.
