Uzbekistan toughens rules on passenger behavior on local aircraft

According to an order of the head of the Uzbek State Inspectorate for Flight Safety Supervision, rules for passenger behavior on board aircraft were approved. According to them, it is prohibited to drink alcohol purchased in Duty Free stores.

Moreover, passengers are not allowed to use drugs, tobacco products, or electronic cigarettes while on board. Passengers may not drink more than a set volume of alcohol.

Passengers must sit according to the boarding pass. It is prohibited to change seats without the crew members' permission. Seat belts must be always fastened whenever the "Fasten your seat belts" light is turned on. Baggage must be placed in designated areas.

It is also prohibited to enter the cockpit, hinder or interfere with the crew members' work, use electronic and communication devices during flight, take-off or landing, violate public order, disturb others without need or use rescue devices without instructions of the crew members.

These new rules were registered by the Justice Ministry and are mandatory for all passengers transported by Uzbek airlines. Individuals who violate the rules will be liable in accordance with the law.

The rules were approved for flight safety.

It was previously reported that an Aeroflot passenger aircraft flying from Moscow to Phuket (Thailand), was forced to land in Tashkent because of the misbehavior of a drunken passenger. After landing, the passenger was handed over to local police. Tashkent doctors helped several injured passengers.

According to the consular department of the Russian diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan, the passenger was fined a large sum and sent home at Russia's expense.
