Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and Chair of the Delegation of the European Parliament for Cooperation with the countries of Central Asia and Mongolia Iveta Grigule discussed the state and prospects of the interparliamentary cooperation, the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry reported.
The delegation of the European Parliament arrived in Tashkent to hold the 12th plenary session of Uzbekistan-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, according to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.
Kamilov and Grigule stressed mutual interest in the enlargement of multifaceted cooperation at the expense of strengthening and expanding contractual basis of mutually beneficial ties in political, trade and economic, investment, humanitarian and other spheres.
During the meeting, the sides noted that intensification of interaction of the upper and lower chambers of Uzbekistan’s Parliament and the European Parliament is an integral and important part of relations between Uzbekistan and the EU.
Uzbekistan and the EU signed an agreement on 'Partnership and Cooperation ' in 1996. Diplomatic representation of the EU in Uzbekistan opened in 2012.
