Uzbekistan announces mass privatization of state healthcare assets

The mass privatization of the state healthcare assets has been launched in Uzbekistan, Uzbek media outlets reported.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the proposal of the Health Ministry and Finance Ministry about the sale of the assets of inefficient state medical organizations to entrepreneurs.

According to the country’s authorities, it will be a good incentive for the further development of private medical services.

Thus, 48 different properties were included in the list of medical institutions, state assets of which will be put up for sale at privatization auctions.

The biggest number of the companies put up for sale accounted for the Kashkadarya region - 12 and Bukhara - 11. Around 90 percent of the properties put up for sale account for the state dental polyclinics.

The entrepreneurs who will buy properties will have to assume one obligation, namely, to retain the activity of the properties for the following 10 years.
