Fruits and vegetables export in Uzbekistan decrease

Export of fruits and vegetables in Uzbekistan from January through August 2020 decreased by 31 percent, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan from January through August 2020, the volume of exports of fruits and vegetables amounted to 979,800 tons and in value, terms exceeded $595.6 million. The rate of decline compared to the same period in 2019 amounted to 31.5 percent.

Some 558,800 tons of vegetables were exported in the amount of $235.1 million, as well as 257,900 tons of fruits and berries in the amount of $249.1 million. The rate of decline in value terms, compared to the same period in 2019, respectively amounted to 34.4 percent and 18.6 percent).

The share of fruit and vegetable products in total exports amounted to 5.1 percent.

The largest volume in value terms of exports of fruit and vegetable products traditionally falls on Kazakhstan (29.3 percent of the total volume of fruit and vegetable products), the Russian Federation (28.4 percent), Kyrgyzstan (18.7 percent).

The export of fruits and vegetables has significantly decreased to such countries as Kazakhstan - by 11.4 percent, Afghanistan - by 25.2 percent, Azerbaijan - by 29.3 percent, China - by 42.9 percent, Pakistan - by 53.2 percent, Kyrgyzstan - by 58.4 percent, Ukraine - by 67.6 percent, Turkey - by 86.1 percent.

At the same time, there was a significant increase in the export of fruit and vegetable products to Russia - by 57.7 percent, the US - by 47.1 percent and Georgia - by 19.2 percent.

Earlier it was reported that in January through March 211,400 tons of vegetables worth $83.4 million were exported, as well as 45,800 tons of fruits and berries worth $53.3 million. The rate of decline in value terms compared to the same period in 2019, respectively accounted for 33.3 and 32.8 percent.
