By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

The management of Uzbekcoal JSC plans to produce 4,5 million tons of coal by 2021 In Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the press service of Uzbekcoal JSC.

The Angrensky open-pit mine is a coal field with a thickness of up to 60 meters and a depth of 130 to 150 meters. Open pit coal mining in Angren requires processing large volumes of overburden. The cut is mined with benches in order to avoid landslides.

“All the coal in this field is used exclusively for the needs of Uzbekistan. The enterprise is on the way to cover the country's solid fuel needs. It is estimated that the country needs 6 million tons of coal annually. This year, the Angrensky open-cast mine will receive 3.7 million tons. By next year, the management of Uzbekcoal JSC plans to extract 4,5 million tons of coal. It will take three years to come to the desired figure of 6 million tons of coal,” says Deputy General Director of Uzbekcoal JSC Alexander Korchagin.

Uzbekcoall JSC finds ways for modernization, technical and technological re-equipment of the enterprise. The financing will be carried out at the expense of the Fund for Technical Re-equipment and Modernization of the Coal Industry, own funds of Uzbekkumir JSC, as well as loans from commercial banks.

In order to improve the quality of coal, to lower its ash content, the management of Uzbekcoal JSC installed and commissioned five manual rock samples at the mine.

The sampling is a belt conveyor to which coal is fed. The task of the company's employees is to manually separate the coal from the rock. Due to the work of employees and new equipment, it was possible to reduce the ash content of coal from 60 percent to 35 percent and get better raw materials.

In order to keep the coal large (brown coal crumbles from impacts during transportation), it was also decided to stretch the railroad track to the open pit in order to load coal into the cars directly from the face. Every day the enterprise ships from seven to 10 tons of coal of two fractions for CHPPs (combined heat and power plant) and consumers. The smaller coal is supplied to the combined heat and power plants, and the highest quality coal, that is the large one is supplied to the population.

According to Uzbekcoal JSC, the enterprise also plans to develop Apartak open-pit mine. The coal mined at Apartak open-pit mine is superior in quality to the solid fuel from the Angrensky open-pit mine.

“This year, the production volume at Apartak will amount about 400,000 tons, but next year, after the necessary stripping works, the production volume will increase to 1 million tons,” said Korchagin.
