Uzbekistan boosts export of agricultural products to Russia

From January through September 2020, Uzbekistan exported 278,000 tons of agricultural products to Russia, which is 85,000 tons more than in the same period last year, Trend reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan.

In monetary terms, the export volume of Uzbek agricultural products to Russia increased by $74.3 million to $195 million compared to last year.

The largest share in exports is occupied by grapes (39,000 tons), nectarine (30,600 tons), onions (30,200 tons), cabbage (28,300 tons), tomatoes (24,800 tons) and apricot (23,300 tons).

Deliveries of greens amounted to 12,700 tons, watermelon – 12,000 tons, plums – 9,300 tons, cherries – 9,300 tons, melons – 6,200 tons.

Of the total export volume, 274,700 tons (98.6 percent) were sent by road. Another 3,600 tons (1.3 percent) were delivered by railways, and the remaining 98 tons (0.04 percent) were transferred by airlines.

Earlier it was reported that Russia’s Vnesheconombank (VEB) will finance the creation of an agrologistical complex in the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan. The complex, which is designed to process about 260,000 tons of agricultural products annually, should be operational by the end of 2021.
