USAID raises awareness of fruits and vegetables export from Central Asia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 19

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has developed a special guide to raise awareness of exporters of fruits and vegetables from Central Asia about all stages of export, Trend reports citing the Agency.

More than 120 exporters of fruits and vegetables from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are listed in the guide, which includes detailed information about their products (by category), brands, distribution channels and contact information.

The guide contains a special section where the reader can get acquainted with the calculation of transportation costs and transportation time for the delivery of fruits and vegetables from Central Asia to key export markets.

The export guide was developed by the USAID Competitiveness, Trade and Job Creation Project as a practical directory to showcase Central Asian growers, processors, and traders willing and ready to export, as well as a list of produce for new markets outside the region.

USAID has developed a specific guide that describes the steps to enter export markets to raise awareness among Central Asian horticultural exporters about all stages of export.

In addition, the export guide includes recommendations for market research, information on world standards, pricing, promotion, packaging of products, as well as international exhibitions, since possession of such information significantly increases the chances of successful export.

The American people, through USAID, have invested over $500 million in Uzbekistan since 1993. USAID is a leading international development agency and acts as a catalyst for achieving development results.
