BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 26

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

Uzbekistan considers accelerated and widespread implementation of modern international standards in cotton production, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Investment and foreign trade of Uzbekistan.

Under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, the working group carried out field visits to the Syrdarya region in Uzbekistan to get acquainted with the progress of cotton picking from farms and clusters, identify existing problematic issues and develop practical measures to solve them.

Because the quality of cotton as a raw material for the textile industry affects the development of several interrelated industries, the importance of accelerating the transition to the use of modern methods of cotton growing, including laser leveling, water-saving technologies, and innovative approaches to agricultural activities, was outlined.

The issues of cluster activities with the participation of foreign investors, as well as practical aspects of the economic activities of cotton clusters and farms operating in the field, have been considered.

The group analyzed the course of the implementation of the program to increase the mechanization of the cotton harvest in the Syrdarya region and instructions were given to accelerate its implementation and promptly resolve the existing problematic issues in this direction.

In addition, the group noted the urgency of the accelerated and widespread implementation of modern international standards in the field of cotton production, providing for the provision of high-quality raw materials while observing technological and labor standards by farms and cotton clusters.

These measures will create opportunities for further development of export potential in this industry through cooperation with foreign brands.
