By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

Vegetable production in Uzbekistan from January through September 2020 in physical terms amounted to 7.6 million tons, increasing by 2.7 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

It was revealed that 76.9 percent of the total volume of vegetable production by categories of farms falls on the share of dekhkan (personal subsidiary) farms. However, their share in vegetable production decreased by 2.9 percent compared to the same period last year.

Vegetable production in organizations engaged in agricultural activities is mostly developing due to the active clustering of agricultural production in Uzbekistan. Their production for 9M2020 increased by 45.4 percent compared to the same indicator of the previous year.

Samarkand and Andijan regions are leaders in the production of vegetables in the context of the regions of Uzbekistan. Together they produce over 30 percent of the gross harvest of vegetables.

The most active vegetable growing in 2020 developed in Khorezm and Bukhara regions and the Karakalpakstan Republic. The growth rates in these regions amounted to 4.6 and 6.3 percent, respectively.

A decline in vegetable production by 8.5 percent was observed in the Syrdarya region, which was affected by the breakthrough of one of the dams of the Sardobin reservoir, which occurred on May 1, 2020.
