Uzbekistan eyes to increase grain harvest

Uzbekistan intends to harvest over 7.8 million tons of grain in 2020, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

Some 6,667,100 tons of grain crops were produced in Uzbekistan from January through September 2020, which is 2.4 percent more compared to the corresponding period of 2019.

Of them, the volume of grain crops amounted to 6,046,800 tons, or 90.7 percent of the total volume of produced grain crops.

The largest production of cereal crops amounting to 5,143,000 tons, or 85.1 percent of the total volume of produced cereal crops was noted in farms.

The largest share in the total production of cereal crops fell on the Kashkadarya region accounting for 12.9 percent.

At the same time, high rates of production of grain crops were also noted in Jizzakh (10.5 percent) and Fergana (10 percent) regions.

According to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers "On the distribution of varieties of winter crops and the projected volumes of growing grain crops for the harvest of 2020" dated September 30, 2019, in 2020 it is planned to receive a harvest of 7,838,910 tons.
