Uzbekistan plans to triple the size of temporary unemployment benefits in 2021, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated this in his message to parliament, Trend reports referring to the press service of the president.

The head of the country noted that people who lost their jobs due to the pandemic should not be allowed to go into the category of poor.

The president ordered abolishing “the outdated bureaucratic procedure” for the submission of six documents for receiving temporary unemployment benefits.

In addition, next year more than a thousand vocational training centers will be created in quarters. The centers will be allocated funds at the rate of up to one million soums ($95) for each student of the courses, and in general, 100 billion soums ($9.5 million) will be allocated from the budget for these purposes. Those who graduate from training courses and want to start their own business will be able to receive subsidies in the amount of up to seven million soums ($668) for the purchase of the necessary equipment.

Also, families engaged in agriculture will be allocated from 10 acres to one hectare of land, depending on the capabilities and specialization of each district. It is planned to allocate 500 billion soums ($4.77 million) from the funds for promoting employment and public works to ensure employment of the needy segments of the population.

“All governors of districts and regions should develop a targeted program to reduce poverty in their territory within a month and report on its implementation in local Kengashes (Councils) and the people through the media on a quarterly basis. This should become the main task of all managers and a key criterion for assessing their work,” Mirziyoyev stressed.

It was also noted that for the first time, minimum consumer spending will be announced in Uzbekistan from March 1 of next year.
