Uzbekistan eyes introducing new measures into collective labor agreement for 2021

Uzbekistan plans to take a number of measures to protect workers from layoffs during quarantine measures introduced due to COVID-19, as well as to consolidate the conduct of industrial gymnastics in teams, Trend reports with reference to the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.

Collective agreement is a normative act regulating labor, socio-economic and professional relations between the employer and employees at the enterprise. It is concluded by workers represented by trade unions or other representative bodies authorized by workers and by the employer directly or by representatives authorized by him.

The departments of the apparatus of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, based on proposals from the localities and innovations in legislation, developed a general layout of the collective agreement for 2021.

According to the collective agreement for 2021, the termination of an employment contract with an employee on the initiative of the employer who is the parent (person, substitute, guardian) of a child infected with coronavirus infection or quarantined, and also under 14 years of age is prohibited.

The agreement also provides for the payment of benefits for temporary disability to parents placed in quarantine due to coronavirus infection or suspected infection, as well as to persons caring for their child under the age of 14 - in at the rate of 100 percent of the average salary.

In addition, during the period of the quarantine measures, the employer transfers employees, especially pregnant women, the elderly, persons with disabilities and those suffering from chronic diseases, with their consent, to remote work, flexible working hours or to work at home and other guarantees.

Furthermore, the agreement will include norms for the implementation of a healthy lifestyle, which include the attracting of managers and all employees to physical education and sports at least once a week (running, streetball, football, badminton, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, swimming) after working hours on certain days.

Additional benefits and guarantees for young people include encouragement of active and energetic young people in trade union work, achieving high results in the labor process and ensuring the active participation of young employees in cultural and educational events, competitions of professional skills.
