Samarkand region leads in total production volume of Uzbekistan’s agriculture, forestry and fisheries fields

Samarkand region took the leading place in terms of the total volume of production (services) of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries provided in Uzbekistan in 2020, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, the total volume of products (services) in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries in 2020 amounted to 260.3 trillion soums ($25 billion), including 251.8 trillion soums ($24 billion) in crop production and animal husbandry, hunting and the provision of services in these areas, farming - 6.7 trillion soums, fisheries - 1.8 trillion soums ($172 million).

At the same time, the share of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries in the period under review in the structure of GDP (GVA) amounted to 28.2 percent.

Thus, in 2020, the growth rates of products (services) in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, compared to 2019, increased by 3 percent (in January - December 2019, compared to the same period in 2018, - 3.1 percent), including in crop production and animal husbandry, hunting and provision of services in these areas - 2.9 percent (3 percent), forestry - 1.7 percent (2 percent), fisheries – 19.8 percent (36.1 percent).

The leading place in Uzbekistan in terms of the total volume of production (services) of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries is occupied by the Samarkand region, while the lowest share in the production of such agricultural products as meat, milk, eggs, potatoes, fruits, and berries is recorded in the Syrdarya region.

The volume of agricultural production in 2020 amounted to 249.8 trillion soums ($23.9 billion), increasing by 2.8 percent, and crop production reached 123.6 trillion soums ($11.9 billion) (3.4 percent), livestock products - 126.2 trillion soums ($12 billion) (2.1 percent).

It was noted that the analysis by category of farms showed that 68 percent of the total volume of agricultural products falls on dekhkan (personal subsidiary) farms, 27.8 percent - on farms, 4.2 percent - on organizations engaged in agricultural activities.

Also, the volume of crop production in 2020 amounted to 123.6 trillion soums, increasing by 3.4 percent compared to 2019. The share of crop production in the total volume of agricultural production amounted to 49.5 percent.

As for fruits and berries, their volume reached 2.9 million tons (more by four percent compared to 2019). Some 56.9 percent of the total volume of their production falls on the share of dekhkan (personal subsidiary) farms.

In 2020, all categories of farms produced 2.5 million tons of meat in live weight (2.1 percent more compared to 2019), 11 billion tons of milk (2.8 percent), 7,8 billion eggs (0.7 percent), 35,700 tons of wool (1.5 percent) and 144,085 tons of fish were caught (18.4 percent).
