Uzbekistan’s Statistics Committee, IMF discuss national strategy for statistics dev’t

State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan and International Monetary Fund discussed the implementation of the roadmap for the National Strategy for the Statistics Development for 2020-2025, Trend reports referring to the committee.

The mentioned issue was discussed during a videoconference between the leadership of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan and experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as part of the IMF technical assistance on integrating fiscal rules into the budget process.

It is reported that the parties discussed the quality of compiling macroeconomic statistics, exchanged views on the methods for calculating GDP (gross domestic product), and assessing the shadow economy.

In addition, the work carried out by the Statistics Committee to improve and develop the national statistics system of Uzbekistan, and the implementation of the road map of the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics for 2020-2025 was covered.

In turn, the IMF mission appreciated the efforts of the State Statistics Committee and noted the key role of statistics in the successful implementation of the state's fiscal policy.
