Number of Uzbek textile clusters switch for full mechanized cotton picking

Experts of the International Labor Organization (ILO) emphasized that a number of textile clusters in Uzbekistan switched to full mechanized cotton picking, Trend reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

The mentioned issue was discussed during an online business conference on "Sustainable supplies from Uzbekistan" held on January 29 in cooperation with the US-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and with the participation of experts, international organizations, representatives of foreign countries, leading world textile brands, international financial institutions and development partners, as well as business associations.

The Uzbek side was represented by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, the leadership of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations and the Uztekstilprom Association.

The Uzbek side made a detailed presentation of the results of the transformations carried out by the government, including in the field of improving working conditions and preventing forced labor, as well as outlined the preconditions for establishing cooperation between foreign brands and cotton and textile clusters of Uzbekistan, introducing international standards in the production of textile products.
