Uzbekistan’s volume of domestically produced pharmaceuticals increase

The volume of domestically produced pharmaceutical products in Uzbekistan as of January 1, 2021, reached 2.47 trillion soums ($235 million), increasing by 9.3 percent compared to 2019, Trend reports referring to the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry.

In addition, 30 new projects in the pharmaceutical industry worth $144.4 million have been launched in Uzbekistan.

It is reported that at the end of 2020, there were 220 pharmaceutical enterprises in Uzbekistan, among which 100 enterprises produce medicines, 29 - medical equipment, 80 - medical products and 11 - medicines and medical products.

Furthermore, a system of reference prices for all manufactured drugs has been introduced in Uzbekistan in 2020 in accordance with the presidential decree.

Also, the Pharmaceutical Technical University with its own infrastructure was created within the framework of Tashkent Pharma Park innovative research and production pharmaceutical cluster.

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan and Russia considered project proposals for the attraction of Russian companies to the implementation of joint projects in pharmaceutical industry, as well as a number of free economic zones specializing in the production of pharmaceutical products.
