Japanese int’l agency eyes using its tech in Uzbekistan’s agriculture sector

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is interested in development and implementation of a project to create an Innovation Center to attract advanced Japanese technologies in the fields of agriculture and water management in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan.

The mentioned issue was reviewed by First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan Ilhom Norkulov and the Head of the Representative Office of JICA Suguru Miyazaki during the meeting dedicated to the discussion of the current economic situation and key reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, as well as prospects for cooperation.

The Japanese side was familiarized with the main indicators of the socio-economic development of Uzbekistan for 2020, macroeconomic forecasts and 20 drivers of the country's socio-economic development in 2021, as well as priority areas of cooperation.

In addition, the special interest of the Uzbek side in implementation of future projects in the field of green economy with the active introduction of green technologies was noted.

Representatives of JICA also highly appreciated the initiated reforms in Uzbekistan in the field of science and innovation, recognizing the human and scientific-production potential of the country.

Furthermore, the Japanese side expressed particular interest in the development and implementation of a project to create an Innovation Center to attract advanced Japanese technologies in the fields of agriculture and water management, as well as construction and energy.
