Uzbek commodity exchange reports volume of goods sold Feb. 8-14

Goods worth 1.6 billion soums ($151,881) were sold on all trading platforms of the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange (UZEX) for the period from February 8 to 14, which is 3.6 percent more than in the previous week, Trend reports referring to UZEX.

According to UZEX, the total volume of transactions involving small business and private entrepreneurship amounted to 565.9 billion soums ($54 million). As a result of electronic auctions for public procurement, the total savings of budgetary and corporate customers amounted to 22 billion soums ($2 million).

It is reported that during the reporting period commodity resources worth 1.4 billion soums were sold at open exchange auctions.

In particular, Last week, 5,583 tons of cottonseed oil were exposed, of which 1,642 tons, or 29.4 percent, were sold. On average, 58 buyers took part in the exchange trades daily.

It is noted that the daily average price for all varieties of cottonseed oil during the period under review increased from 12,183 soums ($1.16) to 12,652 soums ($1.2) per ton, or by 3.8 percent. By the end of the week, the weekly quotation of the first grade of cottonseed oil amounted to 12,998 soums ($1.23) per ton.

A decrease in prices was also recorded on the sugar exchange market. Last week, 8,390 tons of sugar were put up for sale, of which 5,180 tons, or 61.7 percent, were sold.

The daily average price for sugar of all categories decreased from 6,813 soums ($0.65) to 6,709 soums ($0.64) per ton, or 1.5 percent. According to the results of exchange trading, the weekly weighted average price for local sugar of the third category amounted to 6,780 soums per ton ($0.64).

In addition, during the past week, 201,356 tons of cement were put up for sale, of which 190,117 tons, or 94.4 percent, were sold. The daily volume of cement sales averaged 38,000 tons.

During the period under review, the daily average price for cement of all brands increased from 673,900 soums ($63.93) to 687,900 soums ($65.26) per ton, or by 2.1 percent.
