Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover in January 2021 decreases

The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan in January 2021 decreased by 22.2 percent, reaching only $2.3 billion, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

The State Statistics Committee reports that exports last month almost halved, from $1.2 billion to $694 million, while imports fell only by 3.9 percent and amounted to $1.6 billion.

It is noted that industrial goods account for 35.7 percent of the total volume of exports - $248.2 million. Food products and live animals were sold for $76.2 million and chemicals for $62 million.

The State Statistics Committee stressed that in January Uzbekistan did not sell gold at all.

At the same time, imports of machinery and transport equipment last month amounted to $538.4 million. It is followed by industrial goods ($272.5 million), chemicals ($211.8 million), food ($188.4 million), and other products.

Among the 20 large partner countries in foreign economic activity, there was also an active foreign trade balance with six countries, in particular with such countries as Afghanistan ($58.1 million), Kyrgyzstan ($29.2 million), Tajikistan ($22, $4 million), Canada ($16.7 million), Turkmenistan ($10.3 million) and Turkey ($0.4 million).

Today Uzbekistan carries out trade relations with almost 128 countries of the world. The largest volume of foreign trade turnover was recorded with China (21.0 percent), Russia (18.7 percent), Kazakhstan (11.7 percent), Turkey (9.2 percent), France (3.5 percent), South Korea (3.2 percent), and Afghanistan (2.5 percent).

In the structure of the republic's foreign trade turnover, a significant share was noted in Tashkent, which accounts for 45.4 percent, or $1.045 million. In this structure, the smallest share was recorded at the level of 1.1 percent, or $26.0 million, which was noted in the Kashkadarya region.
