Uzbek and Belarusian experts to exchange experience in standardization

The State Committee for Standardization of Belarus (Gosstandart) and Agency for Standardization, Metrology, and Certification of Uzbekistan (Uzstandard) signed a cooperation program for 2021-2023, Trend reports referring to the press service of Gosstandart.

According to the information, Uzbek specialists will study the experience of the Gosstandarton the introduction of information technologies in these areas of activity, as well as on the functioning of the Belarusian state cataloging system in order to create a national information system "State Product Catalog".

The parties will interact with the participation in the activities of international standardization organizations. It is planned to carry out comparisons of state standards, calibrating standards, and working measuring instruments in metrology, as well as the participation of laboratories in proficiency testing programs.

Also, it is planned to create a permanent working group to address issues related to technical barriers to trade between Belarus and Uzbekistan.

In addition, Belarusian and Uzbek experts will exchange experience, information, improve their competence through webinars, seminars, and consultations, as well as internships on standardization, conformity assessment, metrology and accreditation.

Gosstandart Chairman Valentin Tataritsky noted that the systems of technical regulation of Belarus and Uzbekistan are similar and there are prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in this direction.

He also said a draft agreement on the procedure and conditions for eliminating technical barriers in mutual trade with third countries is currently in a high degree of readiness in the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union).

"Gosstandart will work out the possibility and come up with an initial proposal for the first pilot project under this agreement to be implemented with Uzbekistan after its entry into force," Tataritsky said.
