The largest share of carpets exported from Uzbekistan in January 2021 accounted for Kyrgyzstan amounting to $689,700 million, Trend reports referring to the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan.
According to the committee, the second in the list of main exporters of Uzbek carpets in 1M2021 was Azerbaijan with exports worth $598,600. It is followed by Afghanistan, which imported carpets worth $490,100.
Buyers from Russia and Kazakhstan imported significantly fewer carpets. Carpets worth $260,000 and $242,700, respectively, were exported from Uzbekistan during the reported period.
At the same time, the volume of carpets exported to the US in 1M2021 in value terms amounted to $60,000, to Tajikistan - $53,700, to China - $18,900 and to South Korea - $10,600.
It is noted that the export of carpets of Uzbekistan to China in January 2021 decreased by $103,700 compared to the corresponding period of 2020.
In total, the volume of exported carpets from Uzbekistan from January 2021 in value terms amounted to $1.7 million, which is $174,300 less than in the same period last year.
It is reported that the largest manufacturers of carpet products in Uzbekistan are Khorazm Gilamlari JSC in the Khorezm region and the Samarkand carpet factory.
Also, according to the June decree of the President of Uzbekistan, a number of benefits were provided to carpet manufacturers. Thus, starting from 2021, once every two years in October, Tashkent will host the International Festival of Hand-made Oriental Carpets.
