Uzbekistan discussed possible implementation of joint investment projects in mining sphere with UK's Yorkshire and the Humber region, Trend reports referring to the Uzbek embassy in London.
With the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London, negotiations were organized between the head of the Yorkshire and Humber Department of the British Ministry of International Trade Simon Mellon and representatives of the administrations of Navoi and Khorezm regions, as well as the Council of Ministers of Uzbekistan's Karakalpakstan Republic.
The sides discussed issues of establishing interregional cooperation, possible implementation of joint investment projects, including on the territory of free economic zones of Uzbekistan and promotion of Uzbek products in the British market.
Taking into account the potential of the Yorkshire and Humber region, the mining, chemical and textile industries were identified as the most promising areas of cooperation.
Also, agreements were reached on the organization in the coming months for the business community of the British region of presentation events on the economic potential of Uzbekistan, the possibilities of establishing business in the country.
It is also planned to hold consultations between the administrations of the regions, including in order to study the issue of establishing twinning relations between cities.
