A limited amount of funds allocated to the Central Election Commission (CEC) was set at 300 billion soums ($28 million) in order to finance the costs associated with the preparation and conduct of the presidential elections of Uzbekistan, which will be held in October 2021, Trend reports citing CEC.
According to the CEC, all aspects that require funds in the process of preparing and holding the presidential election were taken into account, based on the requirements of the Electoral Code and international electoral standards.
In particular, it is planned to allocate 57 million soums ($5,372) to each of the election commissions of 14 districts, as well as 11.8 million soums ($1,112) to each election commission at 10,880 precincts.
It is noted that more than 80 percent of these funds allocated for district and precinct election commissions will be spent on the salaries of members of the commissions, compensation and unified social payments.
Also, it is planned to allocate 18.4 billion soums ($1,734) for trainers and training sessions to improve the qualifications of members of election commissions. Some 92 percent of these funds will account for the salaries of trainers and members of the monitoring team.
In addition, if earlier cases of violations in the field of organizing and holding elections and referendums were considered by administrative courts, now a corresponding resolution of the CEC has been adopted to consider these cases by district and city courts in criminal cases.
Furthermore, to finance the political parties participating in the elections, that is, for the costs of carrying out general party events, election campaigning and propaganda of candidates indicated by political parties, funds in the amount of 15.5 billion soums ($1,461) are provided.
At the same time, about four billion soums ($377,044) account for each candidate indicated by a political party.
