Uzbekistan, Russia’s Tatarstan consider creation of industrial park in Tashkent

Uzbekistan and Russia's Tatarstan discussed the issues on the creation of Khimgrad industrial park in the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

On June 16 Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov with the participation of Russian Ambassador Oleg Malginov, during which the parties noted the high level of multifaceted Uzbek-Russian partnership and the positive dynamics of its expansion.

It was emphasized that currently there is significant potential for strengthening bilateral ties between Tatarstan and the regions of Uzbekistan in trade, economic and investment spheres.

Since the beginning of 2021, the volume of trade between Tatarstan and the regions of Uzbekistan has grown by 60 percent compared to the same period last year, which indicates the growing interest of entrepreneurs of the two countries in mutual supplies of demanded products.

It is reported that the parties outlined further steps to increase the volume of mutual trade, including activation of working contacts of the relevant regional departments of Uzbekistan with the ministries and departments of Tatarstan, the organization of mutual missions of business circles and industry exhibitions, the establishment of ties with trade networks of Tatarstan and the implementation of joint projects to create wholesale trade and distribution centers.

Also, opportunities for the development of investment cooperation and the establishment of industrial cooperation were considered. The prospects for creating joint ventures in the fields of electrical, chemical and petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food, leather and footwear industries, as well as in agriculture were substantively discussed.

In addition, the sides touched upon the development of interregional cooperation. In this context, the parties welcomed the active interaction of Tatarstan with the Tashkent region, reflected in the agreements reached and specific agreed projects.

In particular, the dialogue touched upon the issue of creating Khimgrad industrial park in the Tashkent region. The parties considered the practical aspects of this initiative and agreed to cooperate to attract potential residents of this industrial park from among the leading manufacturing companies of Tatarstan and the Tashkent region for the implementation of joint projects on its territory.
