Uzbekistan launches export of domestic goods to more countries

Uzbekistan expanded export of domestic goods by launching export to Australia, Argentina, Dominican Republic and Suriname, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the country's foreign trade turnover for 4M2021 reached $10.3 billion, decreasing by $378.8 million (3.5 percent) compared to the same period in 2020.

Excluding gold exports, exports of goods and services in 4M2021 amounted to $3.4 billion, which is $715.7 million more compared to the same period last year. The growth of this indicator amounted to 26.7 percent.

Additional exports in the amount of $660 million were provided by products of the garment and knitwear sectors (increase of $217 million), copper and copper products ($122 million), cars ($59 million), flour ($29 million), household appliances ($22 million).

It is noted that gas export revenues decreased by $82 million as the bulk of gas was redirected to the domestic market.

In addition, restrictions against the backdrop of a worsening epidemiological situation led to a decrease in exports in the field of aviation and tourism services, decreasing by $3 million and $122 million respectively.

Also, during 4M2021 346 new enterprises were involved in export activities, 60 new types of goods were exported. Among them are zinc alloy, veterinary vaccines, polypropylene thread and new types of medical instruments.

In the structure of Uzbekistan's exports, industrial goods account for 35.9 percent, food products and live animals - 9 percent, chemicals and similar products - 8.8 percent.

Moreover, sales of non-ferrous metals increased reaching $464.2 million, textile yarn, fabric and finished products - $658.4 million, clothing - $204.7 million, cars - $125.4 million.

At the same time, the export of fruit and vegetable products amounted to 329,500 tons and in value terms exceeded $188 million.

The volume of exports of services in 4M2021 decreased by 13.2 percent and reached $650.7 million. It is noted that transport services are leading in the sphere - 72.8 percent, followed by travel and tourism services - 12.3 percent, telecommunications, computer and information services - 6.9 percent.
