Iran significantly increases tea supply to Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 18

The import of tea from Iran to Uzbekistan for six months of this year reached 575 tons, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, over the six months of this year, Uzbekistan imported 15,300 tons of tea from 20 foreign countries for $20.2 million.

It is noted that compared to the same period last year, the growth amounted to $2.7 million (+ 15.4 percent).

China became the main supplier of the goods. Some 12,100 tons of tea were supplied from China to Uzbekistan. It is followed by Kenya – 1,100 tons.

Iran has significantly increased supplies. In eight months of last year, imports amounted to 369 tons, and this year, in just six months, the import of Iranian tea reached 575 tons.

Also, Uzbekistan imported tea from Indonesia (347 tons), India (337 tons), Vietnam (254 tons), Russia (216 tons), Sri Lanka (211 tons) and the United Arab Emirates (148 tons).

According to the State Statistics Committee, in six months Uzbekistan as whole imported goods and services for almost $11 billion, which is 14.3 percent more than in the same period last year.
