Uzbekistan among countries with cheapest electricity

Uzbekistan took seventh place in the world ranking the cheapest electricity producers for the population, Trend reports referring to the British Cable.co.uk portal.

Experts of the portal analyzed electricity prices in 230 countries. As it turned out, the cheapest energy sources are in North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa and the former USSR.

In the Central Asian region, Kyrgyzstan is in the leading position in this ranking, settling in fourth place with a price of electricity $0.017 for one kilowatt-hour.

Tajikistan is settled in sixth place for this indicator with a price of electricity of $0.023 per kilowatt-hour.

In Uzbekistan electricity for the population costs $0.027 per kilowatt-hour. This is cheaper than Kazakhstan ($0.039), which is in the 16th place in the world ranking.

Currently, modernization of the energy industry is underway in Uzbekistan. Earlier, it was announced that the government of the country intends to construct over 20 hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 740 megawatts in the next five years.
