European Commission plans to allocate around 35 million euros to support the agriculture reform, transition to a green economy and systematization of legislation in Uzbekistan in 2022, the press and information officer of the EU delegation in Uzbekistan told Trend.

“The funds will be allocated within Multi-Annual Indicative Programme 2021-2027. However, the program for 2022 is still in progress,” the press officer said.

According to the press officer, the European Union has allocated 76 million euros to Uzbekistan for the first four years (2021-2024) of its 7 years Multi-Annual Indicative Programme (MIP) 2021-2027. Additional funds are earmarked for Human Rights support (tentative allocation is 3.6 million euros for 2021-2024) and Civil Society Organisation (3.4 million euros for 2021-2024).

The MIP 2021-2027 has three main priorities:

1. Effective governance and digital transformation;

2. Inclusive, Digital and Green Growth;

3. Development of a smart eco-friendly agri-food sector.

The priorities in the program will focus on budget support for agriculture reform and transfer of know-how through technical assistance or twinning projects with European Union member states.
