BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 21. The Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan and the French Development Agency (AFD) signed an agreement in the amount of 150 million euros aimed at facilitating the country's transition to a green economy, Trend reports via Uzbek media outlets.
The purpose of this cooperation is to prepare, finance and implement a new strategic mechanism that focuses on a green economy.
The goals of a new strategy are to consider the dynamics caused by the global transition to a green economy, preserve the environment in Uzbekistan and adapt to climate change.
The technical cooperation program will simultaneously support the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan and the Uzbek Ministry of Finance in the development of a strategic framework, its implementation in public finance (tax policy, sustainable management of public companies, green budget) and sectoral policies and programs (renewable energy sources, etc.).
