BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 16. Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will create a joint farm to grow mulberry seedlings, Trend reports via Uzbek media outlets.

Today, work is underway to launch a sericulture joint venture in Azerbaijan, establish recycling of secondary waste and silk production, and develop a forage base.

The head of the Khorezm regional department of the Committee for Sericulture and Karakul Sheep Breeding, currently in Azerbaijan, met with the chairman of Azerbaijan's Agency for Development of Economic Zones Elshad Nuriyev.

At the meeting, an agreement was reached on organizing a farm for growing mulberry seedlings.

Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in the field of sericulture was launched on the basis of a memorandum signed by the heads of the two states at the summit of the Organization of Turkic States held in 2019.

The memorandum provides for the development of sericulture in Azerbaijan. At present, with the practical assistance of specialists from Uzbekistan, this area is successfully developing.
