BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 29. Uzbekistan’s enterprises produced 30.8 million square meters of carpets from January through November 2022, Trend reports via Uzbek State Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, this figure jumped by 107.7 percent, compared to the same period last year.
Carpet production in November 2022 totaled to 2.5 million square meters.
Carpet production is an important component of the Uzbekistan's industrial sector. The majority of carpets is oriented for export.
The country earns about $40 million a year from carpet exports. Uzbekistan exports carpets not only to neighboring countries, but also to Europe.
Uzbekistan’s main centers of carpet production are ancient cities such as Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand.
